Complicated Relationships
This lesson is about how organisms interact with each other. Organism interactions involve more than just competition and predator-prey relationships. Let's find out more!
Symbiosis
Symbiosis is a close relationship between two or more species that live close together. There are three types of symbioses: commensalism, mutualism, and parasitism.
ParasitismYou could say that parasitism is commensalism's evil twin brother. In this relationship, one species benefits greatly from the relationship, but in this relationship, the benefiting species actively harms the other species, called the host. In this example, a tick embeds itself into the skin of its host to feed of the hosts blood. This can easily cause illness or infection in the host.
